Beverly Ann Abrahams

Beverley Ann Abrahams is a Zimbabwean teacher, writer and activist against gender-based violence. She has been published in five anthologies of African short stories, four anthologies of international poets, the Brittle Paper anthology of Children’s African stories, and a number of online journals and magazines, including Ipikai Journal of Poetry, Poetry As Promised magazine and Apricot Press. She was the runner up for the Kendeka Prize for African Literature in 2020, was shortlisted for the Carnelian Heart short story prize and the Yvonne Vera prize in 2024, and was a finalist for the AWP Narratives Against Poverty Prize in 2025.

Beverley is also an artist, and her painting “Moon Drops” published by The Icarus Collective was nominated for Best of The Net. She is a prolific curator of photographs, saving them like pennies in a jar! She is a mother and grandmother.
