The Ugly Collective Announces Call for Submissions for Maiden Issue of The Ugly Review
The Ugly Collective is inviting writers to submit their works for the first-ever issue of The Ugly Review. This maiden edition is themed “The Beginnings.” The call is open to poetry, fiction, nonfiction writers, visual artists or photographers who are ready to explore what it means to start.
“The Beginnings” is a simple but powerful theme. It is about moments when something new begins. It could be the start of a new life, a new journey, or a new version of yourself. It could be falling in love for the first time, starting over after loss, or stepping into a new environment. It can also be about small beginnings, quiet decisions, personal growth, or inner change that others may not see.
Writers are encouraged to think about where things begin in their own lives and in the lives of others. A beginning does not always have to be happy or perfect. Sometimes, it is messy, confusing, or even painful. What matters is the movement, the shift from one point to another.
You can tell stories about birth, identity, migration, healing, friendship, or discovery. You can write about the first time you understood something important, or the moment everything changed. Even endings can be beginnings in disguise.
The Ugly Collective welcomes honest, creative, and original voices. Let your work reflect your truth in the simplest and most powerful way you can.
This is your chance to be part of the very first issue of The Ugly Review. Share your beginning.
